    The Wiki says,

    _User Mapping

The top right encoder button turns on User Map mode. This hands off the buttons and bottom eight encoders to a different MIDI channel so they can be used with Live’s MIDI learn feature to map the controls to anything you want. There are 8 channels available for different user mappings. The User Map channel may be changed by pressing one of the bottom 8 encoder buttons. The currently selected channel is indicated by the LED below the corresponding channel’s button. _

That isn’t working for me at all, unfortunately. using latest Live 10 on Mac and latest scripts.

I end up in one channel, and can’t change it – clicking the bottom 8 encoders doesn’t change the midi channel. I was looking forward to using it with the Map. py settings for putting the knobs and sliders to map in user mode. .

Thanks again for all your work on the controller and scripts.

    Hey Mac,

I just checked on my local install with my CNTRLR, and it’s working as expected. So probably you’re using the wrong scripts (that’s what happens most often). You might want to download them again and reinstall…the current version is here:

    https://github.com/aumhaa/m4m8

If things still aren’t working after that, send me a copy of your log.txt file and I can have a look to see if there are errors that will tell us what the problem is. Here’s some (very old lol) info about where to find it:

I’m sure we can get you happening without too much trouble ;)

No issues are showing in the log file, so its probably a configuration issue somewhere.

    Couple of questions:

Is the rest of the script working as it’s described in the wiki?

Do you have Remote enabled for input from the CNTRLR in your MIDI preferences? Should look something like this….

Did you do a factory reset of your CNTRLR? If the control surface isn’t sending the same ids/channels that the script is expecting, then of course it won’t translate them correctly.

Working on the factory reset. The Jazz Midi plugin doesn’t appear to work on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, I am guessing because no modern browser supports NPAPI.

    Instructions, for others:

    So, I downloaded Chromium 44:
    https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-snapshots/index.html?prefix=Mac/330231/

    Installed the Jazz Midi extension
    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jazz-midi/jhdoobfdaejmldnpihidjemjcbpfmbkm?hl=en

    Visited
    chrome://flags/#enable-npapi

    and clicked Enable

Had to allow it to interact with website, and was able to pick “external – controller” and then click “defaults(reset) at the top.

Unfortunately, if I had upgraded to Catalina this would not work at all! I wouldn’t have been able to run the old Chromium 44.

And… it worked! Thank you very much!

It worked a little different than I expected though:

the top right encoder brings me into user mode, not the second from the left as the manual shows.

Then, the you can select the bottom 8 encoders by clicking them to pick a midi channel, 5-12. This needs to be done _before_ entering Live’s MIDI mapping settings.

So my second-to-last question is – how would someone on the latest Mac OS reset their controller?

And finally, a request – could I ask you to please remove the file I uploaded?

    Thanks again!

It looks like I misunderstood the docs – that’s exactly where the user mode map button should have been.

    Thanks again!

    Glad you got things working!

    Re: factory reset and Catalina.

Ok, so. The last time I researched this I did the same thing you did: I went to the NPAPI editor, which of course we both now know doesn’t work. Turns out, though, there’s another newer one at a different location. It’s here, and it should work with modern browsers:

    https://lividinstruments.com/editor_2017/

I just tried it and it didn’t work with Safari (my guess is I just need to configure something correctly), but it worked with Chrome no problem.

There are standalone editors for each of the Livid controller models. They were built in MaxMSP, but I’ve had issues installing them (most likely due to local conflicts with newer versions of MaxMSP that exist on my development machines). I don’t have any clue if this stuff works in Catalina, since I haven’t shifted my machines over to use the that OS yet (for what are probably obvious reasons….Catalina just breaks too many things that I still need).

I removed your log file from the discussion ;)

Hope that helps, and let me know if you have other questions I’m glad to help however possible!
