MemberHey all,
First post, I”m really happy to have found a community of Livid enthusiasts after a few years of quiet on the Livid forum.
I have 2 CNTRL:Rs and a standard OHM.
Since moving from Ableton to a more outboard flow, my Livid gear has been sitting and it seems silly to let these things go unused. I’m on the fence about selling them since they’re awesome controllers, but I’m considering it. As I’m getting them ready for sale, I’m finding that the endless encoders on the white CNTRL:R I have seem to continuously output value when turning them all the way in either direction. Rather than stopping at 0 or 127 as I turn the knob, the midi monitor values will jump between 0 – 1 – 4 – 0 if I continue turning the encoder, and similar on the high side. 127-123-120-125-127. It’s just a bit jumpy / “touchy”, if I move them very slowly they seem to climb through the values normally, but do bounce around the bottom / top if continuing the turn, if that makes sense.
Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the endless encoders?
I also have another black CNTRL:R that was gone through by a Livid recommended tech in 2018 which works perfectly, and is also paired with the XPC8F 8 mini fader combo box.
The OHM is also in good shape, a few dings here and there, but functionally sound.
If anyone is interested to discuss purchase, shoot me a PM, I could list them on Reverb but since these are out of production and likely integral to some of your workflows, I would prefer to see them go to someone who would cherish them and also knows what they’re getting themselves into with the prospect of potential maintenance down the road.
Thanks for any info on the encoder front, I’m all ears.

ParticipantWelcome LUMA,
I think for the encoders, I was told that contact cleaner (or, preferably, de-oxit) is the way to go…..I always had a bit of trouble getting that into the stem though. Might also be a component leaking voltage somewhere, causing the issue.
It’s a shame to let things go, but I understand….I have a lot of controllers I don’t use. On the other hand, my workflow is always changing, so I often find myself going back to old hardware and controllers that I haven’t used in a while and finding new, fresh uses for them

Isopropyl Alcohol. But….
If that isn’t it? I have a bunch of NOS (New Old Stock) Livid Push Encoders. How many are we talking here? three or thirteen?>

I do still have the Ohm64, it’s in good shape. Send me a note if you’re still interested, I’ll leave this tab open to remind myself to check it!

MemberHi @LUMA,
Do you still have the CNTRL R by any chance?
