ParticipantHopefully….I’ve got feelers out, as well. I have a lot of the earlier stuff, but I’m missing a bunch of support files (especially windows) for the last several products, like GW and Minim. I wish more folks would come over here from the Livid site, but not many seem to. I can still see the registrations over there and lots of people still register for forum accounts, but it’s been frozen. I’m just grateful it’s still up as an archive.
I have several versions for MacOS, just none for windows. I’ll double check when I get a chance, maybe I have one laying around on an old virtual machine, but I doubt it….

ParticipantI don’t have any Windows versions of that, sorry
I’m hoping someone else shows up with a copy, so I can add it to what’s available. Let me know if you find something!

ParticipantHey there,
Man, not cool about the CNTRL:R. I don’t think they’re very easy to come by these days, another good friend of mine had his go down last year.
Livid began a protracted demise several years ago, and I also am sad. I have a lot invested in Livid, scripts, homemade gear, etc. I’ve made a lot of cool stuff, both hardware and software, using their products as an anchor.
The website is still around, but it’s gone down several times, and all the downloadable content that was linked is missing. I’m not sure what the story is, but I think there was only one guy at the helm for a while, and I knew it was only a matter of time. When the Livid forums first went down, I had this forum set up in preparation for some software of my own I’ve been working on, and I decided to point people in this direction just to keep a conversation going and hopefully keep some of this stuff alive. The forums over there still work as an archive, but somehow years back a lot of the useful posts by moon and others got deleted.
I hear you about sloppy people on stage….I’m a live sound engineer, and do mostly electronic shows these days. I’d like to say d-bags are the exception….lol. I can’t say that. It’s no fun when you’re basically rolling with a piece of destined to be vintage, irreplaceable gear. It’s like someone stepping on the neck of an old Gibson.
You’re not totally stuck. There are a lot of people using this hardware out there, and although the resources seem to have disappeared from the internet, I know there are a lot of people out in the world with working Livid gear that want to keep using it. I have copies of most of the final releases of software for the brain stuff. The problem I foresee is compatibility with newer OS’s…..Catalina seems to be breaking everything, everywhere
I’m less a hardware guy and more a software guy, but I’ve made a controller out of a brainJr and done a good deal of config work for the Brainv2 for a client. People have slowly been navigating in this direction from the old Livid forums, so keep us posted on your progress….if I can’t help maybe someone else has ideas
Gotta run for the moment, I’ll check your other post tomorrow….
Oh, and incidentally, there is a CNTRLR on eBay right now for not a ridiculous amount of money….

ParticipantHello there
What version of firmware do you currently have? You can find out the firmware version as well as reset the Cntrlr to the default mappings using the online editor that is here:
amounra
ParticipantWill look and get back to you asap….are you looking for windows or mac version?
amounra
ParticipantThanks for that
So glad to see that people are still using all this great hardware!!
amounra
ParticipantGlad you got things working!
Re: factory reset and Catalina.
Ok, so. The last time I researched this I did the same thing you did: I went to the NPAPI editor, which of course we both now know doesn’t work. Turns out, though, there’s another newer one at a different location. It’s here, and it should work with modern browsers:
https://lividinstruments.com/editor_2017/
I just tried it and it didn’t work with Safari (my guess is I just need to configure something correctly), but it worked with Chrome no problem.
There are standalone editors for each of the Livid controller models. They were built in MaxMSP, but I’ve had issues installing them (most likely due to local conflicts with newer versions of MaxMSP that exist on my development machines). I don’t have any clue if this stuff works in Catalina, since I haven’t shifted my machines over to use the that OS yet (for what are probably obvious reasons….Catalina just breaks too many things that I still need).
I removed your log file from the discussion
Hope that helps, and let me know if you have other questions I’m glad to help however possible!
amounra
ParticipantNo issues are showing in the log file, so its probably a configuration issue somewhere.
Couple of questions:
Is the rest of the script working as it’s described in the wiki?
Do you have Remote enabled for input from the CNTRLR in your MIDI preferences? Should look something like this….

Did you do a factory reset of your CNTRLR? If the control surface isn’t sending the same ids/channels that the script is expecting, then of course it won’t translate them correctly.

ParticipantHey Mac,
I just checked on my local install with my CNTRLR, and it’s working as expected. So probably you’re using the wrong scripts (that’s what happens most often). You might want to download them again and reinstall…the current version is here:
https://github.com/aumhaa/m4m8
If things still aren’t working after that, send me a copy of your log.txt file and I can have a look to see if there are errors that will tell us what the problem is. Here’s some (very old lol) info about where to find it:
http://www.aumhaa.com/wiki/index.php?title=Log.txt
I’m sure we can get you happening without too much trouble

ParticipantHey frank
Try this, I think it’s what you need:

Let me know if that works!

ParticipantHey Rockitdog,
Thanks for joining the conversation
I didn’t realize the site was down again….I’ve watched it pop up and down a few times and it definitely worries me because I have a LOT of Livid hardware, and a pretty big investment in time with their stuff.
I should have a copy of the configure software somewhere, as I have a creation I made with a Brain Jr that is at the heart of my live rig. I haven’t used it for a long time, though, so I’ll have to do some digging around on my machines to see if I can find it.
Can you send me a PM with your email address please? When I find something I’ll send you a link….

March 27, 2020 at 6:17 am in reply to: CNTRLR setting encoders to relative mode only in the user mapping #898amounra
ParticipantHey trabz,
The CNTRLR script depends on the encoders being in the correct mode or they won’t work for their selected functions in the script. So it will override any changes you make in the editor (as you no doubt have already discovered
).
To be honest, I don’t remember all the details….I have to look stuff up, and it’s a bit harder to do that currently as I don’t have some of the documentation available to me that I had when I wrote that script.
I think what you’re looking for is line 357:
_self.encoder_navigation_on = SendLividSysexMode(livid_settings = self._livid_settings, call = ‘set_encoder_encosion_mode’, message = [13, 0, 0, 0])_
You’d need to create another line like this, but I’m not sure what values you should use here. If I remember correctly, each number in the array represents 4 encoders. Here’s info from the Livid wiki page:
[wiki.lividinstruments.com/wiki/CNTRLR#07.11_:_Encosion_Style_mapping](http://wiki.lividinstruments.com/wiki/CNTRLR#07.11_:_Encosion_Style_mapping “wiki.lividinstruments.com/wiki/CNTRLR#07.11_:_Encosion_Style_mapping”)
11 : Encosion Style mapping
F0 00 01 61 08 11 E1 E2 E3 E4 F7
This command sets the Mode for each encoder as “absolute” or “inc/dec”. Absolute mode behaves as a linear poteniometer sweeping from 0-127. Inc/dec will send a value of 127 on a CW turn, and a value of 1 on a CCW turn. E1: Acceptable Values: 0-7F. Setting the individual bits for this byte controls mode for Encoders 1-7. A ‘0’ for a bit sets the mode to “absolute,” a ‘1’ sets the mode to “inc/dec.” E2: Acceptable Values: 0-7F Setting the individual bits for this byte controls mode for Encoder 8. Any byte value greater than 0 will set Encoder 7 to “inc/dec” mode. E3: controls Encoders 9-12 E4: unmappedYou’d need to create a new mode and add it to the”Translations” mode definition, replacing the one that’s already there….unfortunately, the CNTRLR script is extremely complicated, and there’s not an “easy” way to do it. It would take me some time to figure it out, at least and hour….if you’re not able to figure it out yourself and it’s worth a bit of money to you, I might have some time later early next week that I could work on it for you.

ParticipantHey nannivr, welcome to the forum
Unfortunately, I don’t have much in the way of good advice for you. I’ve had similar problems in the past, but it was always due to improper grounding of the expansion port. It sounds like you’ve done some good research, and taken the most common precautions to prevent the issue. The only other thing I might recommend is taking the controller apart and disconnecting the internal cable to the expansion jack, or trying to reseat or replace that cable? You might also try to update to the most current firmware for the CNTRLR, as I think some of those problems got ironed out over the life of the hardwares development. Hope that helps, unfortunately I’m more of a software guy than a hardware guy (I know enough just to be dangerous
)….
