ParticipantWelcome, Hamma
If you send me a link to it hosted somewhere I can throw it on my server and add a link here.

ParticipantSee if this one works:

ParticipantIt’s working fine for me here. Are you using the versions from the m4m8 repository?

Participantlol so sorry, I’ve been sooooo busy lately, like 7 shows in 10 days or something. I’m glad you got things working
amounra
ParticipantI’ll hit you back after Saturday, I have a few shows between now and then and won’t be able to get free before that.

ParticipantOhhh
Hope its uncomplicated and quick….hit me up when you’re feeling normal again!

ParticipantSorry, been a busy week. I might not actually be able to get to this until Sunday, but if you’re still interested in working on it let me know and maybe we can set up a chat or something

ParticipantHey Dave, welcome
The Alias8 script didn’t include any device controls, but it’s not that hard to set them up via the script if you want to muck about with it. I can have a look a bit later today probably and hopefully help you out.
I assume by “configuration” file you mean the User Mappings files that Ableton provides functionality for….tbh I haven’t used that in ages so I’m not sure what to tell you, but if you link me what you’ve written maybe I can offer some advice.
For any of the stock script functions that you want to override, you can simply use the User Mappings (command+M) to remap the buttons to controls in Live, and that would override the script. Unfortunately that wouldn’t provide dynamic mappings, though, which I expect is what you’re after?
Cheers

ParticipantI find it so ironic (and tragic) that the DS1 has become the most sought after control surface Livid made (and novation seems to have picked up on the vibe). I didn’t think it would do well at all when they announced it. I’m sure how many were made, but I think you’re right….there have to be some out there….

ParticipantIts hard for me to say really….I haven’t used much from the _Framework files in a really long time. I know there were significant changes to the Session Component, and definitely some other additions, especially in regards to how control surfaces interact with m4l….but that wouldn’t affect most folks.
Here’s a repo with all changes between 10.0.0 and current 11 release:
https://github.com/aumhaa/livepy_diff_ten/commits/Live-11
Make sure to look at the Live11 branch.
If you have any specific questions I could try to help, let me know when you get there

ParticipantHard to say what’s best….there’s simply a lot of things that are far easier (and definitely faster) to do in Python than in M4L when it comes to direct controller scripting. But if I can get away with it, I do what I can in M4L because it’s a little easier to edit (no need to restart live with every change so that the script will recompile, and can actively debug some things a little easier during coding). In the end it’s just a matter of personal choice.
I switched over to Ableton’s v2 framework back when Push came out. Its constantly changing and evolving, and thus Ableton is constantly breaking my scripts. But only a portion of it’s functionality has been ported over to the original _Framework classes, so chances are good that it wouldn’t require that much work to update your script to work with the newer _Framework changes.

ParticipantWelcome LUMA,
I think for the encoders, I was told that contact cleaner (or, preferably, de-oxit) is the way to go…..I always had a bit of trouble getting that into the stem though. Might also be a component leaking voltage somewhere, causing the issue.
It’s a shame to let things go, but I understand….I have a lot of controllers I don’t use. On the other hand, my workflow is always changing, so I often find myself going back to old hardware and controllers that I haven’t used in a while and finding new, fresh uses for them

ParticipantI’m assuming you’ll need to flip some of the dip switches on the back of the controller to the on position (I’d guess the first two, since the joystick probably uses 2 CC’s, one for X-axis and one for Y-axis). You’ll need to use the editor software to assign the CC’s if you want to customize them, but I think you might get lucky and it “just works” after you flip the dip switches. I never had one of those, so I’m just guessing based on how those add-ons generally worked. Let me know how it goes

ParticipantI haven’t had a chance to look at this first hand, but I’d love to hear what you come up with. I can take a look at it with the controller after the weekend.
